Diagnostic Radiology

Physics Consultants Incorporated inspects conventional X-Ray equipment as required by State Regulations and JCAHO recommendations.  All inspections are preformed by or under the supervision of a physicists certified by both the American Board of Radiology and the State of Maine. 

The inspection procedure for each tube usually includes the following tests when applicable:

• General Inspection
• Automatic Collimator check
• Source-Film Distance check
• kVp check
• Half-value layer
• Light-Radiation field alignment
• Timer check
• mA tracking
• mA-time reciprocity
• Phototimer accuracy
• Maximum fluoroscopic field size
• Fluoroscopic beam centering
• Patient exposure measurements
• Fluoroscopic resolution
• Environmental radiation measurements

Reports provided to the client include a summary of any defects noted as well as suggested corrective action based on State regulations, NCRP and JCAHO recommendations.
