Currently there are 61 registered diagnostic mammographic facilities in Maine. The Qualified Experts at Physics Consultants inspect over 65 mammographic units, on an annual basis, in the New England Area. Our physicists meet stringent MQSA requirements and are dedicated to staying informed of new regulations and cutting edge technology.

Our annual mammography survey report follows the ACR format which facilitates in the submission of data for ACR accreditation.

Digital Mammography

Digital mammography is the newest modality in mammographic testing. As of August 15th, FDA is requiring all new applicants with Fischer Imaging SenoScan FFDM units to contact ACR and apply for accreditation of these units.

Currently, accreditation on full-field digital units other than the GE Senographe 2000D and the Fischer Imaging SenoScan is not required; however, FDA Regulations require initial testing in accordance with approved QC testing procedures as submitted by each manufacturer. This testing must be completed and results submitted prior to use of the machine.
